Our Children, Global Citizens, and the Collective
“Our
Children Belong to the Collective” is a phrase that brings back bad memories
and nightmares for survivors of communism. It is alarming when an MSNBC host
says that your kid belongs to the collective. I’ve seen and experienced
Hillary’s global village of “collective” children and did not like it. I do not
like Agenda 21’s “collectivism,” global citizens, or Hillary’s secular village
raising our children – it is a frightening prospect.
States give minor children birth control, the morning after pill, and Planned Parenthood counseling without the knowledge and consent of the parents. In such cases, parental rights are bypassed - they are made irrelevant by the state.
Former
communist dictator Ceausescu and his wife brainwashed children through slogans in
and out of school to believe that their parents were the President and his
wife. Disparaging biological parents, community organizers and teachers
encouraged the worship of the communist party and its absolute tyrannical
leader as the only source of parental advice and guidance.
They
were told to snitch on their parents; they were asked repeatedly how much money
their parents had, what furniture, cars, hunting rifles, jewelry, paintings, cash
under the mattress, conversations with each other, and who visited their homes.
Children,
innocent and sincere, told the truth, without realizing that their honest
answers would put away their parents for good, not understanding why their
parents disappeared overnight, and heartbroken when sent to the many state
orphanages where they would never see their parents again and the aggressive
re-education into the communist utopia began.
At
some point during his rule, the dictator forbade any form of contraception and
abortion was severely punished. The population was dwindling because people
could not afford to feed and support many children. The population was
committing demographic suicide for financial and economic reasons. Food was
hard to come by, living space was very cramped, and nobody had many possessions
left.
An
explosion of babies whose parents were too poor to support ensued. The dictator
was happy to receive them in his many orphanages specially designed to educate
the next cadre of communist apparatchiks and to train his personal army.
Ironically,
one such baby, who was conceived from a rape and his mom gave him up for
adoption to the communist training school, eventually became part of the firing
squad that shot the dictator and his wife on December 25, 1989. He testified
that no soldier knew who had the real bullets and who had the duds. He was
convinced that divine retribution and karma coincided.
Would
parents willingly give up their children to be raised by the state in this
country? Perhaps some who are frustrated with unruly kids they do not know how
to handle anymore or never knew how to raise properly because they were
immature themselves and unprepared for the difficult job of parenting. The
promise that the state will educate children who are out of control might be
tempting to some.
Parents
are already reprimanded by some states if they spank or punish their children
by taking away privileges. Social services intervene and remove the children
from such homes and put them in foster care. The state becomes de facto parents.
States give minor children birth control, the morning after pill, and Planned Parenthood counseling without the knowledge and consent of the parents. In such cases, parental rights are bypassed - they are made irrelevant by the state.
Parents
are not allowed in classrooms to see what lessons and revisionist history their
children are taught. In Texas, parents are not permitted to view the CSCOPE
socialist-indoctrinating curriculum. Common Core is attempting to nationalize
and control the education of our children.
At
the university level the socialist “collectivist” mentality prevails. Columbia
just hired a professor who spent years in jail as a domestic terrorist with the
Weather Underground. Is this the role model we want to teach our students? Academia
has been indoctrinating young minds for a long time with the tacit consent of
parents – they are the payers of tuition and are not asking questions.
Everybody
was outraged when the coach at Rutgers was seen on tape physically and verbally
attacking his student athletes. Where is the moral outrage when conservative
students are verbally abused and tormented by their liberal college professors?
The
all-powerful teacher derides students’ views and opinions that are different
from his/hers, threatens to fail them, or gives them bad grades. The students
are often harassed the entire semester – the professor picks on them and makes
insensitive and insulting remarks to intimidate them into submission. Some drop
the class but many have no choice but to stay.
Benji
Backer, a fifteen year old from Appleton, Wisconsin, was so bullied by teachers
for his conservative political views that he had to switch schools. He was so
tired of being told that he was a racist because his views conflicted with his
teachers’ that he fought back the intolerant bullies from the left by going
public with his plight. (Red State and Fox News)
Children
do not belong to the state, they belong to a family, to their parents, and it
is important to stress parental rights before it is too late. The “collective”
will make pliant drones out of young minds that no longer can or are allowed to
think for themselves as individuals with free will.

What is Sustainability?
"Global
Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource
consumption and set levels of mortality control.” - Professor
Maurice King
The
Merriam-Webster Dictionary lists “sustain” as “to give support or relief to, to
nourish, to keep up, prolong. The Barnhart Etymological Dictionary (p. 1098)
gives its Latin root of “sustinere”
as “to hold up, keep up, support, endure,” as a variant to hold.
The
word “sustainability” is another matter. It seems that environmentalists with a
certain agenda have written the definition in Webster’s. Sustainable, besides
“capable of being sustained,” is also a “method of harvesting or using a
resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged,
sustainable techniques, sustainable agriculture, and a lifestyle involving the
use of sustainable methods.”
Wikipedia
is even bolder and more complex in their definition of sustainability – they are shamelessly preaching U.N. Agenda 21
goals. “Achieving sustainability will enable the earth to continue supporting
human life.” I am not sure how the earth supported human life for eons, it must
have been sheer luck, we cannot leave it to chance, and it must be controlled
by the environmental non-government powers with plenty of government funding
and regulations. Today we are doomed to fail miserably without sustainability.
Wikipedia broadly explains and describes sustainability
as:
-
Wetlands

In
addition to controlling the frightened low information humans into the green
compliance and indoctrinating the next generation into the smart growth of
green, there are fortunes to be made from the sustainability schemes and scams at the expense of the middle class:
carbon taxes, carbon swaps, carbon footprint, electric cars, wind and solar
energy generation, expensive regulations filling the coffers of government bureaucracies,
of unions, and of a few elites who push the green scam zealously.
Since
1987, Sustainable Development of U.N. Agenda 21 has turned every economic
activity possible into Sustainable Everything, from education to food. My local
diner advertises food cooked with sustainable turkeys.
At
the center of Sustainable Development are public policy objectives to “protect
the environment, control economic development, and promote social equity.” Who
can argue with protecting the environment and who does not want a pristine
environment? It is how the environment will be protected to the detriment of
humans, the economic control and the social equity goals that disturb higher
information Americans.
Global
warming is a political movement solidified by U.N. Agenda 21 to bring about
global justice, equality, and wealth redistribution, power to a handful of global
elites, total economic control, and population reduction to the levels that
“consensus” scientists and journalists, who manufacture temperature data and
misinformation, deem necessary to gain control of the uninformed and frightened
masses.
The
hoax of global warming as a political movement will bring about the fundamental
transformation of America promised to us during the presidential campaign, the new
world order/global governance.
Vice
President Joe Biden said on April 5, 2013 at the Export-Import Bank conference
in Washington, “The affirmative task we have now is to actually create a new
world order because the global order is changing again and the institutions of
the world that worked so well in the post-World War II era for decades, they
need to be strengthened and some have to be changed.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Ombbyo0CA
“No
matter if the science of global warming is all phony…climate change provides
the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.”
(Christine Stewart, former Canadian Minister of the Environment)
If
the MSM repeats in tandem bold lies and misinformation enough times and with
confidence, “It does not matter what is true, it only matters what people believe
is true.” (Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace)
“We’ve
got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is
wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental
policy.” (Timothy Wirth, President of the U.N. Foundation)
Paying
a tax to reduce carbon footprint is meant to alleviate the guilt of the elites,
liberals, politicians, the rich, and the hypocritical Hollywood who have not
stopped “polluting” with their jets, huge mansions, and excessive, in your face,
lifestyles. But the majority of middle class Americans can ill-afford these
taxes.
Sustainable
Development will solidify global governance as promoted by the World Core
Curriculum. According to James Lovelock’s Gaia Hypothesis, “the earth is a
living organism, the giver of life, every species is equal in value, and that
both animate and inanimate objects have rights.”
Dr.
Robert Muller, who developed the World Core Curriculum, claims that “every
member of every species is a cell in the global organism and that the evolution
of the United Nations represents the development of the earth’s brain.” (http://freedom.org/reports/ggreligion.htm)
This
curriculum teaches students that it is a sin to cut down a tree, that animals
have rights, and humans (Americans in particular) are “killing” the earth by
burning fossil fuels. God is greatly ridiculed and the faithful are
marginalized. The “Earth Charter,” which seeks to replace the Ten Commandments
with a global green religion, was promoted by Maurice Strong and Michael
Gorbachev.
Maurice
Strong, “a native Canadian who is widely deemed to be one of the key
instigators of the global environmental movement, living a low-profile in China
for the past half-decade,” is considered “the godfather of global environmentalism
and organizer of the United Nations’ 1992 Rio environmental Earth Summit.” (George
Russell, Godfather of Global Green Thinking Steps out of Shadows at Rio+20, Fox
News Insider, June 20, 2012)
How
will new world order/global governance be achieved through the political
movement of Sustainable Development Everything? Aside from academic indoctrination
into the scam of green, man-made global warming hoax, and learned helplessness,
a massive change of zoning laws, severe regulations and restrictions of land
use, home building, energy consumption, consumerism, fossil fuels exploration
and use, visioning committees at local levels will change the face of western
countries through “regional” shadow governments, unelected individuals who will
dictate policy on every economic issue. “Regionalism must precede globalism. We
foresee a seamless system of governance from local communities, individual
states, regional unions and up through to the United Nations itself.” (U.N.
Commission on Global Governance)
Various
executive orders and laws have established regionalism and have already
implemented U.N. Agenda 21 goals of Sustainable Development. There is no
federal government body left that does not have plans for Sustainable
Development. Most universities now offer degrees or have professorial chairs in
Sustainable Development. Job titles have been renamed to contain the words
“green growth” or “sustainable.”
We’ve
reached this point of no return with the help of left wing journalists who have
abandoned any pretense of objectivity. They are nothing but the propaganda wing
of the Democrat Party - Democrat operatives, propagandists, political
commentators, and lobbyists, politicizing anything that will grow the socialist
government, including the manufactured science of global warming.
In
criticizing and ridiculing global warming skeptics, disingenuous journalists
cite the “science consensus,” not bothering to explain that science is exact,
not a consensus. Conveniently forgotten is the fact that debunked scientists with
an agenda (such as those at the University of East Anglia) promoted the false notion
of man-made global warming by deleting data from climate computer models that
contradicted their hypothesis.

Verona, the Marmorina
Of
all the Italian cities I have fallen in love with along the way, Verona has a
special place in my heart, a romantic place where Roman and modern history
intertwine. From the cobblestoned piazza where the Arena presides like the perfect
jewel of the crown, the best preserved Roman amphitheater, to the majestic
medieval cathedrals and palaces, my walks took me to the most fascinating
sights.
Piazza
Bra is home to Arena di Verona. The magnificent Arena was turned into a lavish
outdoor summer opera venue that seats 22,000 people. The very same
architectural wonder that had witnessed gruesome gladiatorial fights between freed
men and beasts, men and enslaved men, its sand soaked from the blood of
thousands, is now a center of music and art.
The
original amphitheater, the third largest in Italy, was built of pink and white
limestone during the first century A.D. and could seat 30,000 Romans. In 1117
an earthquake destroyed the outer ring.
I
could hear in the echo of the vast inner corridors the ancient spectators’
screams of life and death, a gory form of crass entertainment, pane et circenses, bread and circuses,
to keep the ordinary Romans lulled into a false sense of wellbeing.
Thousands
of animals were killed each year in the Roman Empire to satisfy the lust for ghastly
entertainment of the ancients. There were 93 Roman holidays dedicated to
gladiatorial games during the reign of Claudius (41-54 A.D.). They grew to 175
days by the fourth century A.D. The Roman citizens, who were employed, worked
short days in order to attend the games. Slaves were generally expected to do
most of the work in the empire. The Romans demanded bloody entertainment as
often as possible and considered it a right.
At
the end of the narrow and boutique adorned via Mazzini, Piazza delle Erbe (the
plaza of herbs) opens unexpectedly on the left. To the right of via Mazzini, a
very short walk takes the visitor to no. 19 Via Cappello, the alleged house of Juliet
of the famous Capulets with its marble balcony restored by Antonio Avena in
1933.
Apparently
in 1303, during the reign of Bartolomeo I della Scala, the ruling families were
engaging in such infighting that the star-struck lovers, Romeo and Juliet,
children of the Ghibellines and the Guelphs, paid the ultimate price for their
forbidden love.
Shakespeare
immortalized them as the children of the Montagues and Capulets. I have serious
doubts that the house is actually Juliet’s and the theatrical balcony is the famous
balcony, but it makes for an interesting tourist attraction for lovers from
around the world who scribble their names and short messages onto the stone
walls. A bronze statue of Juliet is touched by visitors for good luck, her
shiny breast beaconing more to take photographs. The house was purchased by
City Hall in 1905 at the insistence of wealthy Parisians who wanted to save it
from complete decay and destruction.
Inter-family
violence called for more revenge, murder, arson, and bloody vendettas. Even
Dante recounted some of the feuds in his poems. Peace was restored in 1320 when
the Montagues (Ghibellines) were exiled to Udine by Cangrande della Scala.
The
heart of the city is Piazza delle Erbe, the life blood of Verona Romana where
the Forum once stood. The Forum was the political, economic, legal, and
religious life of the Romans. It is here that the ancient stock exchange stood.
Palazzi, towers, houses, porticos, and a dangling whale bone from an arch encircle
the 140 m long Piazza delle Erbe.
The
tumultuous relationship between the Jewish community and the Venetian Republic
is expressed in the only surviving houses from the former Jewish ghetto
(borghetto, loghetto, meaning suburb). They surround Piazza delle Erbe.
The
Venetian Republic allowed Jews to settle in Verona in the 1500s in the San
Tomio district if they paid a tax. Driven out in 978 for religious persecution,
the Jews were invited back in 1408 and allowed to engage in pawn broking.
Expelled again in 1499, they were not allowed to return until twenty years
later when Venice was in financial trouble and in need of money. Sadly, most of
the ghetto houses were demolished at the beginning of the 1900s, including the
synagogue.
German
Jews were the only pawn brokers allowed to lend money to Christians at 10
percent interest. Anybody else who tried to engage in lending was harshly
punished and excommunicated. There were boxes all over the city which
encouraged citizen to snitch on non-Jews who engaged in money lending.
The
pawn brokers (Monte di Pieta) were highly regulated by 25 administrators, a
lucrative position because brokers and regulators would know all the dirty
secrets and financial problems of the wealthy and the noble in Verona.
The
Gonzaga family of Mantua is said to have deposited large amounts of jewelry
with the Monte di Pieta. When a fire broke out in 1630 and burned many
tapestries, period garments, and priceless pieces, the pawn brokers’ influence waned.
Currently, Casa di Risparmio (The Savings Bank) runs the Monte di Pieta.
At
the end of the Piazza delle Erbe, there is a typical Italian Ristorante that
showcases a well-stocked wine cellar. But is it not just a wine cellar. The
owner proudly took us on a special tour because I spoke Italian. Part of the
floor was made of heavy glass under which Roman ruins, pieces of columns, and partial
mosaics were visible.
Porta
Borsari, built on the original Roman street level, was called Porta Iovis
because of its proximity to the temple of Jupiter, and renamed Borsari, in
honor of those who in medieval times taxed goods passing through. The top level
had a watch tower. Below the frieze, I can still read the Latin name, Colonia Augusta Nova Galliena,
designating Verona in 265 B.C. a defense portal for Rome.
The
river Adige flooded Verona many times. Markers on many old building bear
witness to various flood heights. Miles stone markers from Roman times were
perfectly preserved on a couple of streets. The remains of a Roman theatre built
in the first century A.D. still adorn the bank of the river Adige. On the
opposite bank, huge pavers were clearly marked by the deep ruts made by the
passage of Roman chariots. Large portions of the Roman walls that protected
Verona Romana are still standing.
Ponte
Pietra (the Stone Bridge) is the oldest, most austere bridge built across the
river Adige in 89 B.C. when Verona was a Roman colony. The five-arch bridge,
resembling a Roman aqueduct, was destroyed by serious floods, destroyed three
times, repaired, and finally demolished by retreating Germans in 1945. It was
restored in 1957 with many original stones salvaged from the river, in the same
ancient architectural style.
Another
famous Roman landmark is the Gavi Arch built in the center of Postumia Way in
the first century A.D. by the architect Lucio Vitruvio Cerdone, an apprentice
to the famous Vitruvius. This magnificent arch, demolished for military reasons
in 1805, was rebuilt next to Castelvecchio in 1932, stone by stone, in
painstaking detail, following the original positioning from Via Cavour.
Vitruvius,
the author of De Architetura (known
today as The Ten Books of Architecture),
a famous treatise dedicated to Emperor Augustus, defined his Vitruvian Man, the
human body as the greatest work of art, later drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in a
circle and a square, the “fundamental geometric patterns of the cosmic order.”
The
mysticism I sought and found in the many Romanesque churches and cathedrals is
best described in San Zeno’s Basilica, an Italian Romanesque edifice built on
an earlier church from 372 A.D. and containing Verona’s oldest bells, dating
back to 1149.
The
famous Triptych (1457) of Mantegna stands behind the high altar. The lower part
of the painting, the predella, was
taken by Napoleon and never returned to Italy. The predella, composed of three
pieces as well, depicted Jesus praying in the garden, the Crucifixion, and the
Resurrection. The Crucifixion is now in the Louvre and the other two are in the
Museum of Tours. Paolino Caliari painted reproductions to replace the stolen
predella.
The
lugubrious crypt (dating from the 10th century) of the Basilica di
San Zeno contains the body of St. Zeno in a glass and silver sarcophagus, his
face covered by a silver mask. I had seen similar preservations of Popes in St.
Peter’s Basilica in Rome - those faces were covered by silver, gold, or wax
masks. The legend says that the body of St. Zeno rested in the adjacent
cloister’s St. Benedict chapel before it was transferred to the Basilica in 807
A.D.
The
African San Zeno was born in 300 A.D. and ordained Bishop of Verona in 362 A.D.
San Zeno was said to have performed many miracles, among them, most prominent
was the saving of the Basilica from a serious flood and of the parishioners
from eminent drowning by holding the waters of the furious Adige river in a
vertical position until the waters quieted and retreated.
On
the site of a primitive Roman fort, the Castelvecchio fortress was built as a
first defense against potential invaders and as a palace for the Cangrande
della Scala in 1354-1356. Built almost entirely out of brick, it does contain
some Veronese marble, with stones taken, in Italian fashion, from previously
dismantled Roman buildings, most notably fifteen Corinthian capitals. The
Castelvecchio fortress had easy access to the river Adige and to the Emperor’s
help through the 120 meter long Scaligero Bridge built in 1354.
Verona,
nicknamed “little Rome” and “Marmorina,” (marble producing) a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, was ruled by the Scaligeri dynasty from the 13th to
the late 14th century. The church of Santa Maria Antica, a short
distance from Piazza Dante, houses five of the most unusual Gothic sarcophagi
of the Scaligeri family – some of the tombs are placed in the air, some in the
street and one attached to the wall of the church (Arche Scaligere). The
Scaligeri were successful governors who made Verona a famous city and a
thriving trading economy after the 13th century.
The
oldest tomb dates back to the year 1329. One tomb is located above the side
entrance to the church. The others are located to the left side of the façade,
encircled by wrought iron fences. A baldachin covers the temple-shaped tomb of
Guglielmo di Castelbarco.
No
matter how many times I visit Italy, Verona is a magnet that I cannot resist. I
feel transported in time and mesmerized by its strong ties to Roman history, and
ultimately to my people, the Dacians, who were colonized by Emperor Trajan after
two military campaigns (101-102, 105-106 A.D.) The Dacians, led by Decebalus,
were a threat to the Roman province of Moesia. The Romans needed Dacia’s rich
resources for the survival of the vast Roman Empire. The fierce battles were immortalized
on Trajan’s column in the Forum in Rome.

Common Core and CSCOPE Education
In
the late seventies, Americans were very proud and fiercely protective of their
freedoms granted by the Constitution, of the United States, and of their
standing in the world as a capitalist nation. Just the mere notion that someone
came from a communist country raised eyebrows and pointed questions about one’s
allegiance.
Apparently, standardized tests “fail to produce a valid and reliable measurement of what significant minorities of students actually know, especially students with disabilities, English language learners or those from varied cultural backgrounds. Without accurate measurement, accountability systems are not only ineffective, they are unethical.”(Core Standards)
Education must be “collective” (code word for communism). If students are not equal, self-esteem is hurt. Grades and diplomas should be equal for unequal work in order to achieve social justice in education. Individualism is discouraged yet it is rugged individualism that has made this country great.
It will be a fascistic world if every person will be forced into a government-dictated and enforced, dumbed-down mold, where everybody is equally intelligent, equally capable, equally trained, equally able, and equally educated with a diploma on the wall that is not worth the paper with the fancy intaglio printing on it.
Then
on October 17, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed into law the Department of
Education Organization Act, the U.S. Department of Education began operating on
May 4, 1980, and things started to change.
People’s
patriotic behavior and protectiveness of their culture, of their language, of the
capitalist system in general that made them the most prosperous nation on
earth, began to erode more and more overtly. Among the culprits were teachers
who advanced personal socialist agendas to impressionable youth who believed
every word they said.
In
1979 the Office of Education had 3,000 employees and an annual budget of $12
billion. In 2013 the Department of Education (DOE), with a cabinet level
position, has 5,000 employees and a budget of $69.8 billion.
The
House of Representatives voted in 1979 210-206 in favor of the passage of the
Department of Education Organization Act. (http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=lGsjAAAAIBAJ&sjid=HO4DAAAAIBAJ&pg=7077,5962023&dq=department-of-education&hl=en) Republicans
opposed the elevation of the DOE to cabinet level status as unconstitutional,
an unnecessary intrusion into state and local governments by the feds (they
were right, see Common Core Standards and No Child Left Behind) and the
creation of another huge bureaucracy (they were also right). The American
Federation of Teachers opposed the law.
Liberals
and Democrats thought the DOE constitutional under the Commerce Clause and the
appropriation of funds legal under the Taxing and Spending Clause. The National
Education Association with 1.8 million members supported the law. Amendments
were proposed by those supporting the bill to curb school busing, to prohibit
use of racial and gender quotas for admission to college, and to encourage
school prayer.
Busing,
racial and gender quotas are firmly in place today. School prayer or references
to God are definitely gone in most schools and crosses are covered – we don’t
want to upset the atheists, Buddhists, Hindus, or Islam. Politically correct liberals who stifle free
speech like to explain, it is separation of church and state, yet they promote endless
accommodations for other religions and cultures. Asking students to step on the
word Jesus or to stomp on the American flag is an “enlightened” classroom
activity approved by progressive academia.
As
I wrote in my first book, “Echoes of Communism,” (http://www.amazon.com/Echoes-Communism-Lessons-American-Choice/dp/1456535080) I found
education, the curriculum, and its certification rules quite strange. I did not
understand how a person with a doctorate in Arts in Sciences could not teach at
any level in the public school system unless certified by the Department of Education
but could teach university students.
I
did not understand the stronghold the teacher’s union, NEA, had on employment
and how it created standards for the Department of Education, wrote textbooks,
and determined the curriculum, a curriculum that zealously promoted socialist/communist
ideas and ideals in Social Studies, Economics, Earth Sciences, English, and
Foreign Languages.
At
first I attributed my basic clash with other teachers’ educational views to my
assimilation problems. Teachers would tell me, this is how we do things in this
country and, if you don’t like it, you can go back where you came from. That I
did not want to do because that is exactly why I left – education, how people
thought, lived, behaved, and what they learned was dictated and entirely regulated
by the Communist Party in the classroom.
I
began to realize quickly that most of these teachers were hard-core liberals
who were acting and behaving just like our former communist apparatchiks. When
I became a teacher, as a conservative, I was one of the “rara avis” (rare bird) in education, having completed most of my
schooling in an Arts and Science environment, save for a few College of
Education classes which did not help me at all to become a better teacher.
I
did not fully comprehend how brainwashed my college students were by previous
teachers until I tried to tell them what life and education were like under
communism and none of them believed me, they were laughing! I stopped telling
any stories about communism, it was an exercise in futility. The damage to
these young people’s minds was so profound, not even direct contact with
someone who actually lived under communism persuaded them. Why not?
Children
were very impressionable and looked up to their elementary, middle, and high
school teachers so much that once they got to college, they were already
exposed to a heavy dose of “socialism, social justice, equity are grand”
indoctrination. Most parents had no idea what their teachers inculcated into
their children’s sponge-like brains. They were too busy making a living to care,
some of them were ignorant themselves, even those with college degrees, or the
teachers cleverly disguised what they were doing in the classroom.
The
most glaring example is the CSCOPE curriculum in Texas, designed by a private
corporation as “instructional material,” and not curriculum, thus escaping any
scrutiny. Lessons are written by CSCOPE staff and former teachers and are not
disseminated or accessed to parents. CSCOPE Review, an independent vigilant group,
discovered a lesson plan which compared the Boston Tea Party to “an act of
terrorism.” In another example, students were asked “to design the flag for a
new socialist nation.” Glenn Beck interviewed teachers, David Barton, Pat Gray,
Mary Bowen, Stan Hartzler, and Texas Senator Dan Patrick about CSCOPE. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/07/cscope-exposing-the-nations-most-controversial-public-school-curriculum-system/
On
February 27, 2012 I wrote an article, “Common Core and Universal Design for
Learning,” http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/44875 that received
little attention. As usual, Americans were preoccupied with the latest
manufactured crisis, and the American media purposefully ignored the
implications of such federal cookie cutter education. I did not think it was a
good idea. Emphasizing “collective” work, Arne Duncan described Common Core
Standards as a one-size fits all curriculum in which all children can learn to
“high achievement standards,” ignoring the facts that we are born with
different IQs, different talents, and different interests that cannot be molded
by government fiat.
Common
Core is much worse than I had envisioned. The American Principles Project (conservative
think-tank) found that Common Core is one variable in the larger plan to track
children from birth to work. (http://truthinamericaneducation.com/tag/american-principles-project/)
Michelle
Malkin discovered that the 2009 stimulus package contained a “State Fiscal
Stabilization Fund” offered to states for a “longitudinal data system (LDS) to
collect data on public-school students” such as health, family income,
religion, and homework. (http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/343040/common-core-trojan-horse-michelle-malkin)
Glenn
Beck’s The Blaze described a 44-page DOE report which indicated the possibility
of implementing through Common Core monitoring techniques such as “functional
MRIs” (scanning and mapping a child’s brain function), “using cameras to judge
facial expressions, electronic seats that determine posture, pressure-sensitive
computer mouse, and a biometric wrist wrap.”
