We Are Not a Democracy

I was strolling through Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia when I encountered a very loud group of high school students who did not speak English but were having a grand time in front of the Colonial Governor’s Palace.

After making a few inquiries with the adults, I found out from one of their American chaperones from D.C. that they were Pacific Islanders who were sponsored by the Department of Interior via the NGO Close Up with the idea to teach them about our American “democracy.”

Talking to one of the educator chaperones from the Pacific Islands, I emphasized the fact that we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic with elected representatives who are to abide by our Constitution. She was naïve and did not understand that facet of our Constitutional Republic.

The Close Up Foundation advertises itself as a “nonprofit, nonpartisan civic education organization in Washington, D.C.” Established in 1971by Stephen A. Janger, Close Up is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. President and CEO is Timothy S. Davis, Esq. The foundation had a revenue of $28,706,197 (2014) and expenses of $27,846,081 (2014). The website claims that since 1971, more than one million students and educators participated in Close Up programs “to inspire young people to find their unique voice and help them develop the skills and awareness they need to be engaged citizens for life.” They are expected to interact with people, places, and institutions to “discover how your voice can make an impact on American democracy.” Again, we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic. Close Up Foundation hosts programs for students and teachers from all 50 states, Abu Dhabi, American Samoa, Canada, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Curacao, Guam, Federated States of Micronesia, Puerto Rico, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Mexico, Republic of Palau, and the United State Virgin Islands.

The educational idea is laudable, but should we be using Department of the Interior money to fund these trips, including expensive plane tickets? The elements of American civics are taught in every high school in the nation; we do not need the taxpayer expense to fund these trips to expose outsiders to our American “democracy.”

 

 

 

 

Empires End Eventually and Ours Is Comatose

Throughout human history, there have been approximately 60 empires, some longer lived than others. They left significant traces in both eastern and western  civilizations. Britannica names eight of the largest empires but leaves out conspicuously the Roman Empire: Persian, Mongol, Ottoman, Han Dynasty, Umayyad Caliphate, Spanish Empire, Russian Empire, and the British Empire. 8 of the Largest Empires in History | Britannica

The Mongol Empire of the 13^th and 14^th centuries was the most contiguous empire in history. The Umayyad Caliphate comprised 4 million square miles.

The Han dynasty ruled from 206 B.C. for 400 years.

The Ottoman (Islamic) Empire occupied parts of three continents during 16^th and 17^th centuries. It “collapsed in the early years of the 20^th century.”

Persian Empire (Achaemenian) under Cyrus the Great occupied lands from Iran to Central Asia and Egypt. It fell in 333 B.C.

The Spanish empire, at its height in the 1700s stretched over 5.3 million square miles. This colonial empire existed from 1492 until 1649 (the decline) or 1976, depending on who you ask. It controlled parts of Africa, Europe, Oceanic islands, and both Americas.

The Russian Empire controlled 8.9 million square miles at its height in 1895. Historians agree that this empire and the Little Ice Age had played important roles in stopping Napoleon’s conquest of Europe.

The mighty British Empire, now a shadow of its former self, controlled a quarter of the planet and of its population. A few of the former colonies remain part of the Commonwealth of Nations to this day.

Hitler’s Third Reich (empire), as he proclaimed it, was supposed to last a thousand years. It lasted a little over a decade, from 1933 until its pronounced defeat in 1945 by the Allies in WWII.

The Roman Empire was established in 27 B.C. by Augustus Caesar who proclaimed himself the first Emperor of Rome. Rome itself was founded in 753 B.C.

Then there was the Holy Roman Empire which was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. Headed by a Holy Roman Emperor, this “polity” developed in the Early Middle Ages in Europe and lasted almost a thousand years until its dissolution in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Roman Empire stretched all over Europe and North Africa. It lasted more than a thousand years if one takes into account the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) which ended with the fall of Constantinople in 1453 A.D. and its capture by the Turks.

It is interesting how this eastern empire still called itself Roman even though it had become more Greek in life and language. It is true that within its walls, Constantinople furthered Roman learning and law.

The advance of the Roman Empire was always halted by the barbaric tribes in the north and east, so called because they wore beards (barbarus, bearded in Latin) – Franks, Saxons, Alemanni, Vandals, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Alans, and Huns.

At its height, Rome, the seat of the Roman Empire, was a superb megalopolis of more than one million people. The Forum, built by Emperor Augustus (27 B.C.-14 B.C.), dominated the city and was the commercial and political life of Rome, expressing through its greatness the power of the Roman Empire itself.

Alaric and his armies sacked the “Eternal City” in August 410 A.D., a sweltering day according to historians. The gates were opened to the Gothic armies camped outside Rome; the city that stood unconquered for 800 years.

St. Jerome, born in Rome, but residing in distant Bethlehem, lamented: “When the brightest light on the whole Earth was extinguished, when the Roman Empire was deprived of its head, when, to speak more correctly, the whole world perished in one city, I was dumb with silence.” Thus began the decline of the western Roman Empire into oblivion in 476 A.D. when Emperor Romulus Augustus was deposed by his own German commanders.

It was not just the fall of an empire, but the end of the world as they knew it. But the Goths and their leader, Alaric, did not want to destroy it, they just wanted the benefits of the Roman way of life, land for his men and title of allied commander.

The fall of Rome started much earlier in subtle ways; the Goths had adopted Roman ways while many generations of Romans living in far-away parts of the Roman empire had adopted the barbarians’ way of life. Roman soldiers were recruited from the Germanic people who had no loyalty whatsoever to Rome.

A Vandal, King Gaiseric, did not just capture Rome, he destroyed it in 454 A.D. but the initial sacking of the “Eternal City” in 410 A.D. remained in history the most significant marker of the fall of the Roman Empire.

Evidence found in Circenster, the second-largest city in Roman Britain, points to lead poisoning in bones discovered in tombs there. It is not known if they died from such high lead concentrations (ten times the normal, especially in children) but it is known from contemporary accounts that people suffered from symptoms of chronic lead poisoning, severe headaches, and paralyzed limbs.

Water was carried through lead pipes, Romans drank from lead cups, cooked in lead pots, and even used lead oxide to sweeten wine or as make up for their faces and to powder their hair. Lead poisoning also caused sterility, but we do not have records to prove such a population decline in the west, but it may have been likely.

The eastern part of the empire did not have many lead pipes and used pottery for their cups and dishes. Mines in the eastern part of the empire were fewer. This small fact may have lengthened their existence beyond the 5^th century, way into the 15^th century.

Eventually the Roman Empire’s frontiers became vulnerable to attacks from various barbarian tribes and could not be defended from constant barbarian invasions.

The main lessons from the Roman Empire's demise are that it fell because of greed, corruption, immorality, debauchery, inability to defend its vast borders, massive invasion from poor neighbors who envied the Roman lifestyle and its riches and wanted lands and wealth, and potential lead poisoning which led to a population decline. It is important to note that the Roman Empire's decline and fall were not carefully orchestrated from within, by its own Curia and Senators, its fall happened gradually over hundreds of years. 

NOTE: Our Constitutional Republic, which today most ignorant Americans think it is a democracy, a few an American Empire, and some an experiment, is now comatose.

 

A Socialist Republic To Replace the Constitutional Republic

Americans who self-describe as socialists, seem to long for a society like that of European Nordic states which are not socialist, they have a capitalist economy with large government welfare paid for by high taxation. I am not sure American socialists, and their followers understand the true definition of a socialist nation, one in which all the means of production are owned by the state. That is perhaps because the online definitions of socialism have been changed to fit the leftist narrative in the media. They know that the public knows little history and thus has no reference point.

A 2018 Gallup poll revealed that 57 percent of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism without really understanding what the Democrat Socialism they promote is. Capitalism, which allowed them to prosper, was only favored by 47 percent. Millennials were polled the year before and 44 percent of them wanted to live in a socialist nation.

Harold Meyerson wrote that there were 252 million voting-age Americans. There is a whopping 93 million of Americans voting who view socialism as a desirable society. I am not sure how the 11-40 million illegals, who vote in our elections, factor in the statistics. Personally, I do not have much faith in statistics as they can be skewed so many ways in order to prove or disprove a narrative and the group polled may or may not be representative of the population at large.

But the finding that Americans want socialism appears to be an interesting development because in 1982, when Michael Harrington co-founded the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), there were only 6,000 members of DSA, and membership did not grow by the time he died in 1989.

The Millennials and Generation Z (those younger than Millennials) have overwhelmingly supported socialism in America and branded capitalism as evil while enjoying a lifestyle provided by capitalist enterprises. Brainwashed in schools by educators and environmentalists with well-targeted lessons and videos of gloom and doom Apocalypse and a dying Mother Earth, huge levels of college debt, a shrinking job market, and unmarketable and worthless college degrees, more and more young people have joined the ranks of socialism as promoted by Bernie Sanders, a socialist candidate who never held a productive job in his life.

The socialist movement grows stronger with each younger age group attracted by the promise of “free” stuff. Most of them have never attended an Economics class to learn the concept of opportunity cost, and that nothing is free, someone must pay for it.

Unfair media coverage of Democrat Socialist candidates inflates the rosy picture of socialism as the alternative to the “evil” capitalism which lifted everybody’s boats and gave all Americans an unusual opportunity for prosperity unlike most countries in the world.

My mother used to say, protesters have nothing better to do, Democracy has gone to their heads, and are bored by their wealth and abundance. They have truly never had to suffer any economic indignity, poverty, or famine. By any economic definition, they are not poor, and they are not oppressed as they claim. They just repeat a narrative fed to them from the Mother Ship of the Democrat Party who never lets an opportunity go to waste to score political points in their favor.

Bernie Sander’s campaign and AOC’s victory in New York recorded a huge surge in DSA membership. The Democrat Socialists promised free college tuition, free childcare, full employment, more taxation of wealth to pay for these programs, free housing, universal healthcare, and basic income, while not working. They can just go on the Socialist plantation and find themselves.

How do Americans understand socialism? Even if they search for it online, they find several manufactured definitions which are not accurate – social causes and the public do not own the means of production, the totalitarian governments do.

Thirty-three percent of Americans answered a Gallup poll in 2018 that socialism is a “society with equal standing for everybody, in which benefits, and services were free for all.” Millennials and Generation Z want everything free with no effort expended on their part to build anything or work at anything, just exist.

As I recall from my two decades of living in a socialist republic, nothing was free, and if it was, it was not worth having it, such as health care. We certainly did not have equal standing; we were serfs to the omnipotent government. There were no benefits at all, simply hard work and a meal after standing in line for hours each day.

In a socialist republic, the government in total control of the equally poor proletariat owns all the means of production and decides the quantities of goods and services to be built and to be distributed to the masses, after the ruling elites keep the lion’s share for themselves, their families, and their ideological lackeys and Marxist useful idiots with starry eyes and rose-colored glasses.

American Democrat Socialists view the Constitution as their enemy, starting with the electoral college they despise which stands in their way of controlling everything. They want the majority rule to replace the electoral college thus giving voting power in perpetuity only to metropolitan coastal cities. New York, California, and Illinois would be deciding the voting landscape in perpetuity. American socialists also want to abolish the power of the Senate.

Statistics show that the “majority of the fifty largest cities have Democrat mayors and councils, many of them progressive, even in the reddest of states.” Large cities are the incubation of socialism and Marxism, in alliance with unions and far left ethnic organizations, cities in which crime, poverty, homelessness, and other criminal activities dominate. Harold Meyerson wrote that “we haven’t seen an upsurge like this since the wave of municipal socialism in the early 1900s.”

Socialists helped promote public banks, public utilities, social housing, mixed-income housing, worker and community-owned businesses, co-ops, taxpayer entitlements (welfare). Prominent among urban organizations are public/private partnerships associated with the U.N. Agenda 2030, the destruction of suburbia by adding low-income mixed-use, high-rise housing among expensive single-family homes for which owners have worked and saved their entire lives. Looking again at the Nordic countries of Europe as a role model for their socialism, urbanites want a “social wealth fund along the lines of Norway.”

Many lawmakers have turned socialists and Marxists. The House Progressive Caucus numbered 102 Socialist Democrats in 2018.

Socialists want to break up the big banks and to destroy Wall Street; they want to nationalize the private sector and transfer ownership to employees and the public. That really did not work well in the former socialist republics run by the Communist Party – those in power controlled everything and the proletariat was left with nothing after confiscation of wealth, only hard labor, equal pay, and a horrible 400 square ft. tiny concrete apartment for which they paid the rent decided by the state.

There is a vast difference between asking for more welfare from your government in the Nordic model of social welfare paid for by the private capitalist sector, and a socialist republic where the means of production are owned by a totalitarian government who demands cheap and egalitarian labor from the subservient population.

Americans on the left are far too ignorant to understand history and economics, they are too busy demolishing monuments and installing statues of criminals as role models instead.

And the sad reality is that we are sliding irreversibly into socialism, the precursor to communism. The constitutional republic, for all practical purposes, is comatose.

Progressives Are Not Giving Up, the War Rages On

There is some hope for America as the dark cloud of global communism has temporarily dissipated. We won this battle but the war rages on with a vengeance. The Democrat coffers are full and young people are bought and duped with ease. The New World Order, the communist insurgency, is almost complete.

The Democrat left is now going after the Electoral College members to change their votes from their state’s winner, Donald Trump, to the Democrat loser. Their campaign of intimidation, threats, paid rioters, and fake outrage coming from liberal, anti-American campuses, is supported non-stop by the MSM rhetoric of hate and division and Hollywood turned bad role-model know-it-alls.

Progressives know that this is the only way, to beat citizens down until they agree to elect presidents by popular vote. When they do, the communists will have succeeded in permanently altering elections in the U.S. The over-populated Democrat coastal states will forever determine the elections, the rest of the country will become irrelevant, and globalists will rule.

“The West has won the Cold War but there is now more communism in the West than ever before.” The Americans’ idea of fighting global communism is sporting popular license plates with the Gadsden flag, “Don’t tread on me,”and “Coexist” bumper stickers.

Tom DeWeese, President of the American Policy Center, stated in a recent article,

“They know full well that they aren’t going to overturn the election. These privately-funded forces are being used to create pressure to destroy the Electoral College so they won’t have to deal with it next election. This is how the Left operates. Make a big deal over here to force the hidden agenda over there. The plan is to make enough trouble that Congress will move to abolish the EC to get some peace.”

And who is behind this effort? In DeWeese’s opinion, “One only has to watch to see which member of Congress proposes such action. The answer of course is California Senator Barbara Boxer. A large and diverse crowd at the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio, witnessed the U.S. citizenship ceremony presided by the federal Judge, John Primomo. The federal Judge took the opportunity to scold the newly-minted American citizens, who have taken an oath of allegiance under one flag, that Donald Trump is their President Elect.

“I can assure you that whether you voted for him or you did not vote for him, if you are a citizen of the United States, he is your president. He will be your president and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country.”

He criticized the protesters who shout disrespectfully and carry signs that read, “He is not my president.” Judge Primomo also condemned athletes who bend a knee during the national anthem.

The federal magistrate judge for the Western District of Texas was promptly suspended because he offended leftist sensibilities. Americans are the luckiest people on the planet yet the paid anarchists came out for $15 an hour to say that America was never great, that we are a racist and intolerant country. If that is the case why are people around the world flocking to America? Are they doing it for the generous welfare system?

What is wrong with these misguided Americans? Have they ever traveled to an intolerant totalitarian regime that kills and stones women to death and pushes gays off buildings? Have they had to do without food, a place to live, without their beloved smart devices, without their automobiles, without abundant grocery stores filled with food to the brim, without toilet paper, without medical care, drugs, hospitals, and a clean bed? Were they stopped for I.D. checks, arrested, beaten, tortured? Do they understand how lucky they are to have been born in the one country that has been the envy of the world, the country they are so eager to destroy?

We keep hearing from this administration and the left, “This is not the American way, this is not who we are.” What is the American way? Is the American way what progressives decide? Is the American way what globalists, the Islamists, and the gay lobby decide? If we disagree with them, and we do, they are going to ram the leftist communist ideology down our throats. If we protest, we are racists, islamophobes, bigots, homophobes, and all the other words the suffix “phobe” can be attached to. The Islamophiles and Marxist media continue their indoctrination of the silent masses and of the youth.

America embraces gays, tolerates the burning of our flag, the desecration of tombs and cemeteries, of historical monuments, tolerates moronic athletes who talk about racism when they live in multi-million dollar homes and are raised by white people, tolerates leftist college students who are so brainwashed and scared of their own shadow, they need a safe space away from reality.

America is so tolerant that they give degrees to people who should have never been given admission to a college, socially promotes people based on the color of their skin, not necessarily on their achievement or merit because we have quotas.

America is so tolerant, it’s being invaded by outsiders who don’t want to become Americans; they want to destroy America. Americans open their homes, their hearts, and their pocketbooks and they put these invaders on welfare while their own veterans die waiting to be cared for in VA hospitals. Veterans live modestly on insufficient pensions while illegals receive larger paychecks the moment they set foot on our soil.

Americans are so tolerant that they turn a blind eye and deaf ears to the race baiting coming non-stop from this administration, to the murder of police, to the destructive paid rioting that has only one goal in mind, to replace our constitutional republic’s electoral process with the popular vote driven by mob rule.

Americans turn a blind eye to the invasion from our southern border, to the Reconquista sanctioned by La Raza who believes America is rightfully theirs.

America is so tolerant that we give nukes and billions in aid to countries that are sponsors of terrorism, to countries that hate Americans and wish us harm, to countries that kidnap our citizens. Americans protect the ungrateful Europeans who snub our culture and demonstrate a disdain, hatred, and anti-Americanism never before exhibited.

Americans are so tolerant that we allowed our public schools to become indoctrination farms into global communism with the help of Common Core, the Department of Education, and the vaunted collegiate academia. Their pupils are now among those who are pushing for “forward,” “hope and change,” “fundamental transformation,” “social justice,” impossible “equality,” and replacing our Constitutional Republic with a “democracy” ruled by anarchists. As such, the Electoral College, an important element of our republic, must be destroyed, no more checks and balances.

There is more hate, intolerance, disinformation, and lies coming from the progressive left than we can possibly quantify in a lifetime. Until we change the entire education system back to patriotic American values, citizenship, culture, borders, family, freedom of faith, and accurate American history, we are not going to win the war against the globalists.

The Character of a Nation and Precious Snowflakes

A lot can happen to a nation’s soul, heart, and character in 70 years. In 1944, eighteen-year olds stormed the beaches in Normandy, embracing almost certain death; eighteen-year olds today need a safe space on campuses to cry or cower in fear because words hurt their precious snowflake feelings.

This fundamental change of the American character was accelerated by the Marxist indoctrination facilitated by Jimmy Carter’s Department of Education, founded in 1979.

The cultural demise exploded with help from academia who brainwashed our children into collectivism, from Hollywood’s culture of depravity, from its promotion of drugs, by progressive agendas entirely divergent from the best interests of a healthy and prosperous society, by sexual promiscuity, abortion presented as a choice when it is really murdering human beings as late as four days before live birth, the loss of faith, and by the destruction of the family unit.

The drugged up generations of today have no knowledge of Civics and therefore believe that democracy, a fancy notion of mob rule and anarchy, represents our country. In reality, our Constitutional Republic was founded on entirely different principles which are alien to these mentally insane progressives, useful idiots of global elites, who manipulate them like a fine-tuned violin to do their bidding in the form of riots, slashing and burning their way across our cities while this administration remains silent and the police is told to stand down.

Almost six million men served in WWI and 16 million in WWII. I’m not sure how many WWII vets are still alive, their numbers dwindle with each passing day. American soldiers served our country to preserve our freedom and the freedom of many nations and “our good and decent way of life.”

But today, our society is a corrupt cesspool of vile and immoral entertainment on every possible venue. Music and movies are laced with profanity and women are degraded in rap songs. Singers objectify themselves by imitating sexual acts on stage, scantily clad. Everything goes as long as it feels good.

Proper behavior, honesty, and law abiding citizens are denigrated. Rap and the worst elements of society are worshipped and invited to the White House and celebrated. Immorality and sexual promiscuity is rampant among high school students. Administrators in public schools and colleges have mandated that boys should use the same bathrooms and locker rooms as girls, inviting rapists and pedophiles into our schools. The majority must yield to the sexual confusion and psychological illness of the few.

The average student does not think twice about having multiple “loveless hookups” by the time they graduate. Sexually transmitted diseases, rapes, and unwanted pregnancies happen all the time. After all, the courts have ruled that it is the woman’s choice and her body; they can legally kill their babies conceived in “loveless hookups.”

Profanity rules in Hollywood, on radio, in normal conversations, and in young progressive crowds that are up-to-date on who the latest “reality nobody” is, but don’t understand the Socialists of the Democrat left whom they adore and whose polices they support – collectivist social justice and impossible equality.

Thousands of innocent babies are slaughtered in the womb every day but none of these leftists bat an eye. They only get upset that Donald Trump might take away their “choice” to murder a human being who wants to live.

Those who are lucky to be born are anchor babies from foreign citizens and babies of those Americans who are married and believe in the sanctity of life and family.  A large percentage of black mothers are “married” to Daddy Government and its life-long welfare and many fatherless children end up in gangs, on drugs, and in prison.

The birth demographics of citizens in most developed nations are on a civilization-suicide downward spiraling curve. Young women prefer to push carriages with dogs and cats instead of babies.

Marriage has been bastardized and made irrelevant by our government and the gay lobby has embarked on aggressive tactics to bankrupt and punish those whose religious views reject homosexual marriage.

The rabid and intolerant left has freedom of speech which they exercise violently through riots, assaults, beatings, and property destruction, but they want to destroy anybody else’s rights who disagree with them.

Dr. David Sponseller asked rhetorically in a recent letter on Veterans Day, “Would our soldiers, sailors, and airmen have been so willing to face possible death or crippling injury in combat, knowing that such a cultural way of life were in their future if/when they got back home? I rather doubt it. Rather, they must be rolling over in their graves now at the knowledge of how far the culture has collapsed.”

A gay person, whom I have known a long time, has publicly wished that Trump would deport me back to my home country. I have been a naturalized American citizen longer than this person has been alive. I was lucky to come to this country legally and I am proud of the opportunities it gave me to become everything I could not have become in the socialist/communist dictatorship I was born under.

Not letting truth get in their way, the intolerant progressives and the gay lobby are projecting their fascistic beliefs onto the one man that just might make everybody’s lives better now and in the future.

It seems that the left does not understand that in our Constitutional Republic the Electoral College plays an important role in elections. If the popular vote was the sole benchmark of elections, the overpopulated states bordering oceans would be the only ones in which American citizens and illegal aliens would get to elect our president, the rest of the country would have no voice. Hillary won the popular vote against her opponent, Barack Obama, but he was elected president. Somehow, it was fine then, but not now with Donald Trump.

The outlook for our country was dismal when the progressive candidate was promising more of the same immoral lifestyle, exalting abortion, and seeking to radicalize the Supreme Court for probably 50 years through liberal appointments. “A godless, secular culture so far gone would have been impossible to recover.”

We must be vigilant. The rabidly progressive left is highly organized, with money to burn. The globalist coffers are never-ending. The progressive elites are not accepting this or any defeat graciously, they are massively financing the country-wide violent rioting which nobody seems interested in stopping; they are going to undermine Trump at every turn, along with the RINOs in Congress.
